Task2k

SaaS

Task2k is a user research platform designed to give researchers, designers and product teams a single place to run studies, recruit participants and collect feedback. It ships as a full product surface: a web app, a marketing CMS site, a live Chrome extension for in-context capture, and a mobile app currently in build.

The whole platform was designed, architected and shipped solo — using AI as the implementation accelerator while I owned the UX, system engineering, integrations, payments, and platform compliance.

The Challenge

How might one designer ship a production-grade research platform — across web, browser and mobile — while still owning the architecture, security and compliance properly?

Task2k was a chance to prove out a way of working: design-led, AI-assisted, but with the engineering discipline of a proper product team. Not a prototype. A real, billable, multi-surface platform that researchers could actually run studies on.

Approach

The build was architecture-first. Stack, data model, auth, payments and compliance were chosen before the first screen got designed — so the product could scale past the MVP without a rewrite. AI handled the implementation; I owned the decisions.

  • Audit of existing user-research tools to identify the gaps and the cost ceiling researchers were hitting
  • Architecture and stack chosen up-front to support web + extension + mobile from one backend
  • Security and abuse protection wired in early — not bolted on later

The Solution

Task2k is a research workspace that meets researchers wherever they're working — at their desk in the web app, in their browser via the Chrome extension, and (soon) on the move on mobile. It's a full platform, not a feature.

1. Web app — the research workspace

The core of the platform: build studies, recruit participants, collect responses, and analyse results in one place. Designed as the home base for any user-research project.

2. Marketing site & CMS

A standalone marketing site running on its own CMS, so content (case studies, pricing, blog) can be updated without touching the app codebase. Same brand, different deployment surface.

3. Chrome extension — research in context

A live, store-published Chrome extension that lets researchers capture observations and feedback right inside the product they're studying — no copy/paste, no broken context.

4. Mobile apps — in build

Native mobile apps are in active development, extending the platform to on-the-go capture and participation.

5. Built-in ticketing

Customer support is integrated directly into the platform so issues, requests and feedback all stay inside the same system — no third-party helpdesk needed.

6. Fraud & abuse protection

Cloudflare Turnstile gates the high-value entry points (signup, study submission) and a fraud-detection layer flags suspicious activity — making sure the research data researchers pay for is actually valid.

Tech & Architecture

The stack is deliberately boring — modern, well-supported, and chosen so a solo builder can move fast without painting themselves into a corner.
